Mark Nicholson Personal Bio

Mark Thomas Nicholson was born in Columbus, Ohio. A good place to be born considering Columbus was an adventurer, who made a rather important discovery, and Ohio being the birthplace of aviation. This proves that it's good to be born. One can start discovering new frontiers, whether it's sailing the ocean to a New World, or flying the skies of imagination. "Up in the air," "While getting your feet wet" at the same time.

Being born: two words. Birth Place: Columbus, Ohio. Human being: Mark Nicholson. A lot can be derived from two words! So from out of the water, into the air, Mark began his voyage in July 1961 into a New World of discovery and imagination that has led him to you!

Mark graduated in 1979 from Southern California's school for Creative and Performing Arts (San Diego, California) studying theater, music and dance. This laid a solid foundation in the field of fine arts. He then continued his studies in the arts at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, focusing on acting and musical theater. After performing in numerous plays and musicals in Repertory Theater, he went on to study television production.

Shortly thereafter, he began a career in television working in many different TV stations across the country producing, directing and shooting commercial, news and entertainment programs. His success in television took Mark to Hollywood, California where he shot and edited for the CBS program "Circus of the Stars," airing in over 80 countries worldwide.

Not liking the environment in Los Angeles, Mark left to return to San Diego to work independently as a director/cinematographer/videographer for network television and corporate video. Mark has directed and shot news programs for MSNBC, CNN, Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC Sports, ESPN as well as "Good Morning, America," "The Today Show," "Inside Edition" and many other TV network shows. NBC Sports and Fox Sports have also relied on Mark to cover The Superbowl and The World Series.

In the corporate and political world, Mark has served Pacific Bell, Teledyne Ryan, Don Julio Tequila, Agouron Pharmaceuticals and General Motors as well as both the Republican and Democratic National Committees. For over twenty years, Mark Nicholson has been there, behind the lens, leading the way to classic coverage of Hollywood's most exciting events.

When Mark's hands aren't on the camera, they can be found on the keyboard. Mark is a pianist/composer. He released one CD "A Touch of Spirit," a compilation of Classical/New Age/Contemporary instrumental piano pieces. He currently performs at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, California. He is working on a 2nd CD called "Free and Clear."

Mark enjoys yoga, piano, the ocean and dolphins. He has traveled to Macchu Piccu in Peru and all throughout Mexico where he met his wife to be in Guadalajara.

Married to a wonderful woman named Blanca, they have a beautiful baby son, Christopher Diego. Christopher is very adventurous, curious, outgoing and into discovery. He has already discovered the waters of Cancun, Mexico where he swam with little girls from Veracruz. Hmm...reminds me of another interesting Christopher character. Though Christopher wasn't born in Columbus, he was born by the water, near the ocean, in a place called San Diego. Hence, Christopher Diego. Gee, a lot CAN be derived from two words.
